Available CAT tools and formats
CAT tools (Computer-Assisted Translation) are the workhorses of the modern translator. While SDL Trados is still regarded as the de-facto standard, there are quite a few competing translation tools on the market, like MemoQ, among others. All of these tools can handle common file formats like docx, xlsx, html, xml, and many more. The resulting translations are independent of the tool being used.
Many tools are interoperable to a certain degree. The following is a non-exhaustive list of tools and compatible formats that I offer:
